The paint job is finished! I just need to do a topcoat. Today I drove to SC and registered it and got my tags! Yippy! Right now a AAA tow truck is en route to pick up our Westy and bring it to a shop in VA that I hear is good with VWs. Hopefully we will be able to drive it home this weekend! Sleeping in it is very comfortable... We have just about everything finished... Just need to install the stereo and speakers, make front panels still, cut a door for the "closet".. and a few odds and ends. I created a shelf for the closet so now its divided in two. Here are some pictures!

Trey put the carpet in, we just re-used a $20 rug I bought a couple of months ago. It looks great!
We painted the bumper, we just have to put it on. :)
Laura - I just came across your blog & I'm loving it! I can't believe you guys have gotten SO much done in such (to me) short amount of time - very impressive! My favorite is probably the tapestry on the ceiling of the pop-top, I never would have thought of that & it looks wonderful! My boyfriend (also named Trey, hah!) and I recently bought a Westy ('86 Vanagon) & I'm so eager to fix it up! Your blog is wonderful, thank you!
ReplyDeleteawesome, I'm glad you like it and it inspires you! A little bit of elbow grease goes a long way! ;) Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI am really impressed with the way this has come out so far Laura Anne! Lots of people start big projects but it is a far lower number on folks who actually see them through to the end. Well done! I know you have a few things left to do, but the results of your hard work are showing and the end is in sight!

Thanks Mike! I know, it has been tough and really hard work, but finally the end is near! This week we will really be testing it out, taking it to the High Country Bus Festival and camping in it for a few days! After this week I will have 100% confidence! :)
