Absence

Well this past month has been fun, but it has been a month of relaxing and working... Not anything to really blog about, huh? Excuse me if I don't update often this next month as well... we have this month to "save up" for our trip so we will be doing more work and less fun. Once we get started I may either just start updating this blog with our travels or make a sister blog. :)
I will try to get on here and update once in a while... so don't forget about me for long! :D

Storage

Two people in one Bus can be kind of tight and having little lose objects floating around is no good, so I took my behind the door shoe organizer, cut it and attached it to the back of the passenger's seat:

And made a little curtain to go over the top:

The bottom is stuck to the metal of the passenger seat with these huge super magnets my friend had at work. Yay free stuff for the Bus!

Camped-out Pics:

I made a "screen" for the sliding door to help keep bugs out:

If we want the hatch open but no one to see in we just hang up a sheet:

A peak inside from the Hatch: We hang a tapestry up behind the driver's seat for privacy

Camping is fun! :)

Fruits of Labor

It's been so long since I've last updated! We are now being able to enjoy the fruits of our labor these past 6 months, and it's great! When we took the Bus to the shop the only thing wrong was we missed a wire going to the fuel sensor. :P the tech said the Bus was in good condition, nothing wrong with it. We need the driver's side CV joint worked on I believe, or something similar because there's a noise that comes from that area. trey installed the stereo and we made one panel for the cab but the driver's side will be tricky to make because of where the headlight is pushed in a little. We also have a leak in the area when we are driving in the rain. But when we are parked it doesn't leak it seems...

So luckily we got him back just in time for the High Country Bus Festival! It was just an 1 1/2 away from Boone in Crumpler NC. It was a ton of fun! I have been trying to upload pics for the past few days but for some reason it won't let me... Maybe me connection isn't too good.

I plan to post some more photos of my interior all decked out and finished... coming soon hopefully :P

Going Smooooth

The paint job is finished! I just need to do a topcoat. Today I drove to SC and registered it and got my tags! Yippy! Right now a AAA tow truck is en route to pick up our Westy and bring it to a shop in VA that I hear is good with VWs. Hopefully we will be able to drive it home this weekend! Sleeping in it is very comfortable... We have just about everything finished... Just need to install the stereo and speakers, make front panels still, cut a door for the "closet".. and a few odds and ends. I created a shelf for the closet so now its divided in two. Here are some pictures!

Lobster figured out where his litter box is going to go...
Peel N Stick vinyl flooring

Trey put the carpet in, we just re-used a $20 rug I bought a couple of months ago. It looks great!

We painted the bumper, we just have to put it on. :)

Paint almost finished!

Going to finish up the paint in a little bit. I finished most of it Friday but didn't have one of the colors I needed, but now I do!
As you may be able to see, the yellow part needs to be the perry winkle blue (actually called Peek-a-boo Blue) so I just need to spray that today, and some finishing touches. Plus the hatch needs to be finished as well.

Its funny because the other day as I was getting ready to go out and work on the paint- somebody drove by and I heard them say "hippy van". LOL guess its going to be a "hippy van" no matter what I do.

Lobster Checked out the Bus today!

Mt fat cat, Lobster came and checked the Bus out this afternoon... He checked out the lined sink cabinets...

He also was interested when I showed him how the curtains opened...

I guess it got the Lobster seal of approval.

I also hung up some Salvador Dali pics I like. The Minotaur I hung on the closet and I hung the Metamorphosis of Narcissus over the bench seat.(it's really huge though so I couldn't really get a picture of where it hangs, just the actual painting.)

I bought some more paints from Wal*mart today so I can finish up the paint job... But the weather has threatened rain so I am holding off for now. Here is a very rough draft:

... hopefully not tooo "hippy"

Propane stove & sink installed

Trey installed the propane burners and sink components today. As I have mentioned, the burners are hooked up to run off 1lb containers, we tested it before we installed and it works great, both burners! Hooray!

The upper bunk cushions have been covered, sewn and put in. The upper bunk is pretty big, even Trey who is 6'3 can stretch out!

The Fridge cabinet has been painted and I plan to cover it with some of that non slid shelf liner, as I am going to do the same with the kitchen cabinets.

I have had a freezer bag/ cooler for a few years, it works really well and coupled with dry ice, I think I should be able to keep cold foods fresh for a while with this, so here is my new "fridge":

Gotta love that Salvidor Dali Theme :)
